A very special person

I have a special needs grandchild whom Morah Blau a'h embraced full-heartedly and mainstreamed her at BYA. She has excelled largely as a result of Morah Blau's constant efforts to treat her and mentor her as a totally ordinary student. Her total confidence in our grandchild's ability to succeed helped us all immeasurably. Morah Blau a"h was a very busy person with many responsibilities. But she was never too busy for our grandchild as an individual. No words can express our appreciation.

Morah Rochel Blau

Rebetzin Blau was a major figure throughout my life.

From Camp Chedva to BYA both I and my daughters benefited from her Chinuch and practical advice and her ever-present smile! She will be sorely missed!

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Morah Rochel (Felice) Blau A”H. Morah Blau, who helped found BYA elementary school, was an Ishah Chashuvah who always greeted everyone with a sever panim yafos, and שם ה’ היה שגור בפיה. In her capacity as principal, she used her talents as a songwriter (most notably of the well-known song about Sarah Schenirer), playwright, and artist. Her innovations have been implemented in schools throughout the Jewish community.Morah Blau A”H has been an icon in Chinuch Habonos in Brooklyn and beyond. There are Moros throughout the world today that have been trained by Morah Blau, widening her legacy. Generations of mothers have been taught by Morah Blau. And in BYA today, she was the much admired Principal of the current talmidos. Unfortunately, Morah Blah took ill a few months aga. Tehillim was recited constantly by her many students for months. She was Niftar on the first night of Pesach. BYA has set up an email address for letters, thoughts and memories that people would like to share. Parents, teachers and students are encouraged to write down their memories and personal stories. Please forward to MorahBlauMemories@byaschool.com. These reflections will be used as they plan an appropriate asifa likovod Morah Blau a”h.
