The Shooting Star

I remember Reb Chaim ז"ל rising like a meteor when he came to Beis Medrash in Telz. I had known him as a younger Bochur in High School, but when he arrived in Beis Medrash, he began pummeling us with solid Kushyos, one after the other - mammash a locomotive! I inquired about his Derech haLimud, and he revealed his "secret weapon": Every Friday night, he did not go to sleep until he had reviewed everything he learned since the beginning of the Zman - by the end of the Zman, he would be up until 2 and 3 AM! His Ahavas haTorah - so apparent in his later rise as a prominent speaker in the Torah world - was the engine that propelled him to the heights of Lomdus in his Yeshiva years!
