Boro Park - We are saddened to inform of the petira of Reb Eliyohu Meir Ballabon, a respected member of Boro Park's Vizhnitzer kehilla, who was niftar from the coronavirus. He was 70. Reb Eliyohu Meir, a familiar figure in Boro Park as a cashier in Goldberg's supermarket, was a son of Reb Yaakov Ballabon, a longtime melamed in the Satmar yeshiva who is still remembered fondly by generations of talmidim. Reb Eliyohu Meir was niftar on Wednesday night after complications from the virus that has already claimed hundreds of lives within the New York Jewish community. He is survived by his wife and three children. He is predeceased by one child. The levaya will take place in the Vizhnitzer beis hachaim in Monsey, where he will be buried. Yehi zichro boruch.
