Yakov Borchardt was a warm and loving person. He was always there for others. For many years, he was a locksmith and he worked free of charge for Yeshivas. Yakov enjoyed participating in other people’s שמחות even if it meant traveling long distances and attended them from beginning to end. He brought along with his camera and took pictures of the event. His greatest pleasure was presenting them to the Baal Simcha at no charge. Yakov always looked out for his neighbors, from the young ones to the elderly. In fact, for many years he did the shopping for an elderly neighbor. He was a person who would be very careful in making a קידוש ה' all the time. He was specially נזהר in honoring his parents. He lived with his elderly mother עמו"ש and took exceptionally good care of her.
